The Protein Works’ introduced their Extreme Range, which comes with a wide variety of products, from meal replacements to BCAA’s.
For the first time, I tried and tested TPW™ 100% Whey, just to find out exactly how extreme it is and exactly why many people rave about it!
Taste and Texture
When you mix the whey with water, milk or oats, the protein gives you a fine and thin texture which is not only easy to drink but also makes foods, such as oats, easy to eat without adding any unnecessary thickness. This product keeps the focus on ‘flavouring food’, rather than being an overwhelming taste of whey, creating a strong protein taste to whatever you decide to add it to.
Unusually, with 2.3g of carbs per shake, leaves you feeling full without any ‘bloated’ or ‘sickly’ feelings after consuming, which ticks a box for many protein fans.
Our favourite is the chocolate silk!
Being effective is where The Protein Works smash records!
Not only does a protein shake, as you guessed, give you a load of protein (23.7g to be precise), but you get an abundance of different vitamins, BCAA’s, glycine and a ton of nutrients (13, in case you wondered).
You’ve also a combination of taurine, another popular amino acid, along with shy of 24g of protein, 2.2g of fat, 2.6g carbs and all of the above for just 124 calories.
For those of you who have read my other reviews: I, personally, prefer to eat my foods, rather than drink them – so you’re getting a full effect for a condensed amount of calories, in other words, you don’t need to use this as a meal replacement!
In addition to all this, you’re hitting all your essential nutrients, or 200% of your RDA to be precise, for Vitamin B3, Vitamin B5, Vitamin B12, Vitamin B9, Vitamin D3, Vitamin B6, Vitamin B1, Vitamin B2, Vitamin E and Vitamin C.
Ease of Use
A smooth and delicious taste that manages to blend smoothly in a protein shaker. It absorbs well in foods such as oats without causing a mess in the kitchen – could it get easier?
You can mix the protein easily with water or milk without having any unnecessary ‘clunks’ of protein left in the shaker. Making sure that you don’t have a ton of undissolved protein powder hanging around your mixer is a personal highlight for this product.
The Protein Works suggest taking 2-3 servings of 35g per day, with each scoop being 35g. For people like myself who isn’t the greatest mathematician in the world, that’s between 70g and 105g per day.
On that note, 1kg of protein is going to give you between 10 and 14 days for £42.99.
You get a load of additional benefits with this product, not just a large amount of protein. In comparison with most protein shakes of similar quality, the price is about average.
In the grand scheme of things, TPW seems to have got this one nailed. “You pay for what you get” is a common phrase and TPW offers exactly that. Yes, there are cheaper options out there but no, there certainly aren’t much better. If you are after a high-quality protein with a load of additional factors, this is what you need.
A smooth blend which can be added to almost any foods and mixes well with water or milk.
