Optimum Nutrition: Gold Standard 100% Whey Review

Optimum Nutrition is often branded one of the most popular supplement outlets out there, and their 100% Gold Standard whey is often considered to be one of, if not the most popular protein powder on the market.

Let’s take a look as to why this is the world’s number one selling whey protein.

Taste and Texture

This product has a consistent taste and texture, which is relatively easy to blend, it mixes well with a liquid of choice leaving you a thin and soft texture. With Optimum Nutrition, you very rarely get lumps in the middle of your protein after blending, this is due to the smoothness of the protein powder which you’re consuming.

Our favourite is the Double Rich Chocolate!

Gold Standard Whey is naturally low in sugar and fat, containing 24g of protein, 5.5g of BCAA’s and 4g of glutamine and glutamine acid per shake. Each shake racks up just 110 calories. Another massive benefit of Optimum Nutrition’s Gold Standard Whey is that, per 100g, 82.5g of powder is made up of protein, which is staggering in comparison with most other leading brands.

Like all whey proteins, having a shake in a morning and a shake within 20 minutes after finishing your workout is really important. Gold standard whey is one of the most effective you can use and in comparison with most other protein brands, the quality standards from Optimum Nutrition is leading the pack, as their regular customers would now come to expect.

Ease of Use

Gold standard whey is easy to mix, due to it’s thin and soft texture. The product is more ‘liquified’ than some of its competitors but this just means that you don’t need to vigorously shake your mixer to make sure that you’re not getting a mouth full of unblended protein.

Gold Standard can be added to other products too, easily and effectively, due to the fine powder in its basic form. Making it easy to add to cakes, buns or other baking or cooking which might take your fancy.

The only potential downside to the product is it most certainly isn’t the cheapest product on the market, retailing at around £49.99 for 2.27kg. However, there are often some great deals on Amazon, and one particularly at the time of this review can be found here. If any protein manufacturer or supplement company have earned the right to charge more for a product, it’s Optimum Nutrition for their Gold Standard Whey!

That said, in comparison with other proteins and the overall quality of Optimum Nutrition’s products, the price is fair if your key target is to get the best quality Whey protein out there.

Overall Thoughts

Looking at the effectiveness of 100% Whey, it’s not difficult to see why Optimum Nutrition are so far ahead of the game for Whey Protein. The smooth and soft texture and the nutritional benefits which are in Gold Standard’s 100% Whey is the reason this is the number one best seller in the world.

The Gold Standard Whey is also Bodybulk’s ‘gold standard’ when it comes to purchasing a protein powder. If the phrase ‘you pay for what you get’ means anything to you, then this product is worth every penny.
